Play-Based Learning Curriculum

Our Play-Based learning curriculum provides opportunities for children to explore, discover and solve problems in imaginative and playful ways. Our Educators use children’s motivation and interest to explore new concepts and ideas. They encourage interactions that aim to stretch children’s learning to higher levels and have become facilitators of child-led learning.

Our learning spaces are designed to stimulate your child’s imagination and sense of wonder. Play-Based learning is enhanced through play experiences that contribute to language acquisition, early literacy, early math, science, creativity and social skills. Our rich learning materials are ever-evolving, allowing children to deepen their interests and play as they explore their environment using their senses.

Our open playroom and outdoor playtime allow for large blocks of uninterrupted time for play and inquiry-based learning while providing children with individual and small group learning with their teacher. Projects are introduced throughout the year and provide opportunities for in-depth investigation and exploration of an area of interest. Some examples of projects undertaken at Busy Hands ‘n’ Minds include: Space, Animal Habitats, Hibernation, Planting, and Five Senses.

Play-Based learning celebrates diversity to its fullest as children share their language, customs and culture while engaging in real-life and make believe activities with their friends.

We recognize the importance of making learning visible to both children and families. Our educators document children’s learning regularly through portfolios, annual developmental assessment, classroom documentation boards, children’s artwork and personal journals (preschool children only).
