Preschool

Our Preschool Program is designed for children 2.6 to 6 years of age and we offer full-time and part-time spaces (Tuesday, Thursday & Monday, Wednesday, Friday). The ratio in our Preschool Program is one teacher for every eight children, with a maximum of 24 children.

Our Preschool Program ensures that your child’s mind is engaged and helps create a life-long love of learning and exploration. Your child is introduced to new experiences which develop independence, self-esteem and self-confidence. Preschoolers begin to form stronger friendship groups and our educators help them learn how to play cooperatively and belong to a community.

Our learning centres – Reading, Dramatic Play, Creative Art, Sensory, Manipulatives and Fine Motor, Cognitive (Math, Language, Science, Social Studies), Block Play/Construction and Science- capitalize on children’s natural sense of inquiry and discovery through hands-on exploration while fostering literacy, numeracy, science and social skills.

We prepare your child for Kindergarten and future success in school. Our Phonics program promotes early literacy concepts such as alphabet knowledge, phonemic awareness, early reading and pre-writing skills. Preschoolers are introduced to letter sounds and formation, blending sounds to create words, identifying sounds in words and developing a sight word vocabulary.

Our teachers use a variety of fun, engaging strategies in the classroom to develop literacy. By being exposed to big books, poems, flannel board stories, fairy tales and daily read-alouds, children learn new vocabulary, gain an understanding of story structure and acquire skills that will promote success in reading. Nursery rhymes, poems, and songs are an important part of literacy development and promote phonemic awareness. Preschoolers and Parents also enjoy participating in our at home "Snuggle Up and Read” program.

Our math curriculum is embedded into the daily life of the classroom and helps preschoolers make sense of the world around them as they learn to reason and problem solve. Our hands-on, playful activities are designed to help children become independent "math thinkers”.

The preschool journey ends with a memorable cap and gown graduation ceremony. Families are invited to attend a special class performance and graduation diploma presentation.
